Beyonce's "Lemonade"

Saturday night Beyoncé released her latest project “Lemonade”.  There were accusations aimed at Jay-Z for infidelity.  The visual album gained a lot of attention.  She used sing spoken word, fashion and lyrics about relationships, infidelity, and love.
Beyonce also had an appearance of the women holding photos of black men who have been killed. Some of the women we may know as Mike Brown and Trayvon Martin mothers. Beyoncé’s lyrics touched on so many different themes, including infidelity.  The lyrics made it clear who they were being referenced to.  This made the fans read between the lines regarding the state of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s marriage status.

Future

Future told the world what really happen between him and the famous singer Ciara. Why they broke up and didn’t try to get back together. The two called it quits in December of 2014 and share a son named Future Zahir Wilburn. Future says “We grew apart," he explained. "When you're a man, you want to make decisions for your family, and sometimes the lady doesn't see what you see… I called [the engagement] off way before any cheating rumors came out. The engagement was already off." Asked if the decision to split was mutual, Future replied "I said it wasn't going to work," adding, "She wasn't too mad because I explained it to her."
Singer and songwriter Prince died Thursday, April 21, at age 57.  The world knew him as a pop start with a flamboyant style and a gifted musical genius.  According to CNN, Prince’s remains have been cremated, the pop superstar's publicist said Saturday. They still don’t know the cause of the death but his remains will be private in their final storage.  Prince fans are well dedicated to him & everyone around the world are continuing to pray for Prince’s family because we know they need blessings and comfort as for his close friends also.  AMC Theaters said Friday that the movie "Purple Rain" will return for a limited theatrical run. Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry hurt his ankle in game 1 of the first round playoff series against the Rockets. After his treatment he returned in game 4 but left early. He sprained his knee after he slipped in the second quarter. The warriors ended up winning the game but nobody knows when Stephen Curry will be back this postseason. He is a key part to the team as they attempt to win back to back NBA championships.

The celebrity that I researched is Zoe Kravitz. I think that she is so pretty.  I think that she is so original and different. She’s like a breath of fresh air because while everyone is trying to be like everyone else she is trying to be herself. I also love her parents and her whole little family. They’re just so unique and original. And they also are all successful with their careers.  Zoe Kravitz is also a really nice actress. She was really good in the movie dope. I feel like that’s when I first noticed her and I just thought she was amazing.

Lemonade

The most successful female artist as of right now Beyoncé Knowles has released her new visual album "Lemonade" on April 23 , 2016. In this visual Beyoncé is said to possibly be addressing what’s been going on between her and her husband/Rapper / Baby’s father Jay-Z.

She makes several comments about cheating and how the one she loves could hurt her. Beyoncé also then spoke in her music about forgiveness which also could insinuate how Beyoncé was cheated on but has chosen to forgiven and how if she is choosing to forgive she has no intention on treating her husband any different or holding resentment towards him.

Gabrielle Union is an movie actress. She is a mom and a step-mom to Dwayne Wade children.  She wanted to become an lawyer but instead she became an wonderful actress. According to the article her and dwayne is the power couple and they are doing powerful things. Gabrielle style is amazing she says "if I can walk out the house felling like Beyonce, its not worth it". Every time you see her on the red carpet she is always look "fly". She played in a lot of movies and that lead up to her own show "Being Mary Jane". So after all that she is an amazing mother wife friend and actress.

Post High School Plans

After high school, I plan on attending Western Michigan University. I am going to college undecided because i'm not for sure what I would like to do yet. Also, after high school I will be beginning travel softball over the summer. This will be my 6th year of travel softball. This will also be my last year of travel softball. Along with softball, I will also be working from time to time when i'm not busy. I work at my Uncle's Currency Exchange in Dolton when I am able to. I am looking forward to after high school because I will be moving on to the next chapter in my life. I am also going to be sad leaving high school because I will be leaving the people I grew up my entire life with. This will be a hard chapter in my life because there are many endings such as graduation and prom but there will be many new beginnings such as going to college and being on my own. - Savannah Kiel
This summer I will be going to different places, like Florida Saint Louis Mo.  somewhere in Chicago. I’m going to Florida with my brothers for a family trip. We are all trying to go but some of us have to work. I'm going to Saint Louis to see the arch I hear it’s really big and pretty. I’m going to a town called Freeport it’s not in Chicago but it’s like two hours away I’m going to see half of my family again I go every year I’m trying to go somewhere different so hopefully I get to go to Florida.

Favorite High School Memory

My favorite memory from high school so far is junior year Prom. It was the last dance with my best friend still attending Crete. She moved to Florida over the summer. Other than the fact that someone spilled coffee down the side of my dress, it was pretty fun.
I'm really looking forward to Prom this year. I don't think after prom will be too fun, since they're repeating something they've already done. Odyssey Fun World just doesn't sound too entertaining.
I don't think I can really say what my favorite high school memory is, since high school isn't over yet. There are so many more things to look forward to, like walking across the stage, the senior picnic, and Prom.

Lawyers witheld evidence

Lawyers witheld evidece of black lung disease while coal miners were geting sick. The dust from working in a coal mine caused the miners to get the disease. Lawyers and big corporations tried to cover everthing up to protect temselves while the workers contiuned to breath unhealthy air. Gary Fox is one of the people affected by the disease he worked in a coal mine or 25 years whe he first noticed a shortness of breath. Then he started coughing up black mucus which caused him and his wife to take things to the courtroom. A judge denied him when he asked to recieve benefits from the company he used to work for and he is still fighting the case today.

How Regulators Put Florida Howeowners at Risk!

In Florida many home owners were at big risk around hurricane season. Keystone insurance had been in debt and had no money and had yet to inform the 70,000 homeowners that lye under their insurance company about this. If a hurricane had arrived many homeowners would have found themselves under useless insurance policies that they pay money to keep.

A yearlong Herald-Tribune investigation found that allowing struggling insurers to remain in business has become an alarming part of how Florida regulators cope with the state's ongoing property insurance crisis. These faulty business are being rewarded and homeowners of Florida should band together to do something about this.

Gary Cohn and Will Englund, reporters for The Sun, won a Pulitzer Prize in investigative reporting in 1998 for a series of stories exposing the extraordinary hazards to workers and the environment caused by the little-known industry that scraps old ships. Their sweeping account of migrant workers maimed and killed in sloppy and unregulated shipbreaking operations from Baltimore to India prompted the U.S. Navy to drop a plan to send retired warships overseas for scrapping. The stories also sparked congressional hearings and prompted the Defense Department to order a study on how naval vessels can be scrapped safely. “We were very impressed with how the Sun reporters had taken a good local story and pursued it to national and even international scope," said Paul C. Tash, executive editor of the St. Petersburg Times, chairman of the five-member Pulitzer jury on investigative reporting. "Some of the scenes were horrifically gripping. That speaks to the quality of the storytelling," Tash said. Intriguing stories like this one were very appreciated b new reporters and upcoming investigators.

Cosby Rape Case

In late November of 2014 Bill Cosby was accused of drugging and raping a woman. There were 12 Jane Does signed up to tell their stories of being assaulted by Cosby in support of Constand’s case. He was accused of giving 59 women Quaaludes and either his friend or he took advantage of them. The woman never came out about the allegations because they were sent threats and being attacked if they were to speak. When one person decided to speak more and more women decided to speak out about them being raped. They thought no one would believe them so they never spoke out.

Everyday you hear about racism going of our criminal justice. You always see a headline about something involving racism. The story created sickness for Americans that you would have to be Donald Trump without recognizing the need for change.

Is it a crime?

You hear a whole lot about the racism of our criminal justice system, and in the past 16 months.  The Guardian has done extraordinary work compiling its database of all police shootings in 2015. Keith Childress, an unarmed 23-year-old black man, was shot on Dec. 31, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nev.  Omar Ventura, a 23-year-old Hispanic man armed with a knife, was shot on Dec. 24, 2015, in a house in Porterville, Calif. Derek DeGroat, a 21-year-old white man armed with a gun, was shot on Dec. 21, 2015, in a house in Canaan Township, Pa. Shirley Weis, a 51-year-old white woman armed with a gun, was shot on Dec. 13, 2015, in Arlington, Tex.

Nail salon

The New York Times interviewed more than 150 nail salon workers and owners, in four languages, and found that a vast majority of workers are paid below minimum wage; sometimes they are not even paid. It is the start of another workday for legions of New York City’s manicurists, who are hurtled to nail salons across three states.  Overtime pay is almost unheard-of in the industry, even though workers routinely work up to 12 hours a day, six or even seven days a week. The contrast stems from the stark ethnic hierarchy imposed by nail salon owners.

Imagine going to sleep with your baby in your arms peacefully sleeping, and waking up to him cold and not breathing. That’s something Rodricus Crawford had to go through.  In the process of trying to wake the baby up, the ambulance they called was taking more than 20 minutes to come. This was something they were used to though; living in the neighborhood they lived in. If something like this happened now, somebody would try to sue. Because the ambulance had took so long, the baby was dead for over an hour.  Police authority supposed to be there for us to help, and in their situation they weren’t.

There was a baby who had died he was one years old and one of his fathers (Crawford) was sleeping with him and when the father work up the baby wasn't breathing at all. So living where they live it took the ambulance twenty minutes just to get there. While they where coming they tried to give the baby CPR but that wasn't helping anything. the other father (Lott) had came to help but didn't do anything. the police came and got Crawford because the baby had a busted lip and bruise on his head. The police thought he slept on him because come to fine out the baby had suffocated. The police thought Crawford did it because he had a record.

Ghost Boat

A boat disappeared in the Mediterranean sea. now a movie is being made about the "ghost boat". The movie shows how groups of people tried to find information on the disappearance and find the missing people. There are still a lot of mysteries unsolved in the case and the series attempts to uncover them.

Investigative Journalism

My story was about a big family who lived in Louisiana. This family lived Shreveport, Louisiana. One morning a guy by the name of Rodricus woke up to his one year old son not responding. His son just turned one last week and was having problems responding to the father. Rodricus attempted to wake the baby up but he didn't move and he put his ear on his stomach and the baby wasn't breathing. The dad called the ambulance and no one came so he had to call another one and they told him twenty minutes.

The Missing Boat

Investigators are looking for any open leads to the "Missing Boat" case. Allegedly, 243 passengers, men, women and children, along with the boat have gone missing without a trace. Three survivors, Yafet, Ibrahim, and Measho spoke out about the incident, and led the US officials to the boat. Yafet went on to mention: “When we knew that the boat was definitely going to sink, me and my three friends from Syria jumped into the sea. We didn’t have any life jackets, just two children’s rubber rings between four of us. We gave them to the two youngest who were only 15 and 17 because they couldn’t really swim,” he told the International Rescue Committee after landing. “Three Iraqis wouldn’t come. They said ‘we can’t swim.’ One of those who stayed used Viber to phone his Dad from the boat. He said ‘Hello Father, the boat is sinking so I will die.’ It was his last message.” But one question still lingers..why did the boat sink in he first place? Ibrahim and Measho's stories kept changing when placed in custody for further questioning, and now officials believe this was an inside job, especially considering Ibrahim and Measho were previously charged for drug trafficking. Could this have been a hit and run drug move? or simply just a malfunction in the boat? What do you think?

The price of nice nails: analysis

By:Sunshine Nowak-Wolff
I read "The Price of Nice Nails". This article was interesting to me because I get my nails done often, as do many other women in the world.
The article talked about the conditions that many manicurists work under. Many are underpaid, or not even paid. Jing Ren, a 20 year old who had recently come from China, waited for a job in the Long Island strip mall. The salon owner charged each new employee for her job. She would work for no wages, earning only her tips until her boss decided she was skillful enough to earn a wage. Many salons in the New York area operate this way, though it isn't fair. "The New York Times interviewed more than 150 nail salon workers and owners, in four languages, and found that a vast majority of workers are paid below minimum wage; sometimes they are not even paid." The workers endure humiliation, video monitoring, and in some cases, even physical abuse. Employers are rarely punished for these labor violations. A salon in East Northport, N.Y., where workers said they were only paid $1.50 an hour, charged the employees for drinking water, and often paid them nothing at all on slow days.
I don't agree with the treatment of the employees of the nail salons. It's wrong.

Spring Break By:Taylor LaFevre

Spring break is one of the most anticipated breaks for High School students and I could not have been more excited to relax. After all the hard work during 3rd Quarter it was nice to get a break and not have to worry about school assignments. While some students were on vacation and relaxing at home, I was working or playing soccer here at Crete-Monee. I usually had soccer almost everyday and went to work after that. Even though I did not have too much time to relax, I still had a great Spring Break and enjoyed not having to be in school.

In Italy there are lots of places to visit and if I have to recommended these are the top cities to see:

1.  Venice: it's in northeastern Italy and it's the capital of the Veneto region. Here there aren't car and  there is a famous way of transportation: Gondola. There are numerous attractions in Venice, such as St Mark's Basilica, the Grand Canal, and the Piazza San Marco.
2.  Florence: It's the capital city of the region of Tuscany;it is known as the "cradle of the Renaissance"  for its monuments, churches, and buildings. The Palazzo Vecchio is the town hall of Florence and also an art museum and Uffizi is one of the best art galleries in the world. There are several different churches such as Santa Maria del Fiore, the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella and the Basilica of Santa Croce.
3.  Turin: it's the capital of the Piedmont region;Turin is known for it's renaissance, baroque, rococo, neo-classical, and art nouveau architecture. Here you have to visit the Egyptian Museum, the Mole Antonelliana and also the stadium of my favorite team: Juventus.
4.  Rome: it's the capital of Italy and of the Lazio region. One of the symbols of Rome is the Colosseum, the largest amphitheatre ever built in the Roman Empire. There are also the Roman Forum, the Domus Aurea, the Pantheon, Trajan's Column, Trajan's Market, the Catacombs, the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, Castel Sant'Angelo, the Mausoleum of Augustus, the Ara Pacis, the Arch of Constantine and other beautiful monuments.
5.  Milan: it's the capital of Lombardy and it is the main industrial, commercial, and financial centre of Italy. The cathedral is the most important example of Gothic architecture in Italy; near that there is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II that is a covered passage with a glass and cast iron roof.
