BALLIN Like I’m KB

Herbert Wright, AKA (Lil Herb) has had Chicago harmonizing since 2013. For those of you who don’t know, he’s recently released a new mixtape, BLIK, which stands for (Balling Like I’m Kobe). But was it worth the wait?
Lil Herb released his much-anticipated “Ballin Like I’m Kobe” project on the internet Tuesday, September 29. It was pretty much the talk of social media. The mix-tape features 15 tracks with guest appearances from Lil Bibby, Lil Durk and more. Herb tapped some of new school Hip Hop’s talented producers for this project, including DJ L, DP Beats and C-Sick, to name a few. However, a handful of social media users bashed the mixtape, stating that he ought to stray away from his “sensitive” side and focus more on his “drill” music efforts that he excels so well in.
Coming from the slums of Chicago’s Eastside, Herb grew up in Terror Town, and was always faced with peer pressure. Drugs, Alcohol, and violence were part of his daily routine. Both artists are associated with the gang N.L.M.B., a “Brotherhood” Herb added. They feel obligated to reach success by how they live.
He was influenced by artists like Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, Meek Mill, Lil Wayne, and Nas. He came up with other drill rapper Lil Bibby, whom he has collaborated on many tracks. Drake himself has offered the duo a positive recognition and implied that they would be a dynamic duo in his current group “OVO”, a team of Go-Getters.
On September 3, 2015, he eventually signed a deal with Cinematic Music Group, which prompted him to change his name to G Herbo instead of stage name Lil Herb. When asked about leaving Chicago and starting a new and safer lifestyle, he declined.
“I’ll never leave my brothers. That’s what NLMB is. Never Leave My Brothers. I started from the bottom. I’d do it all over if I could get all my brothers back. Until I reach them again in heaven, I’ll continue to ball like I’m Kobe for Jacobi D. Herring.”
