Starbucks, the world-wide known coffee chain, is being urged to stop providing plastic straws and drink stoppers. "Paper is safer!", a petition on change.org says. It's estimated that 14 billion pounds of trash(much of that being plastic) is dumped into the world's oceans each year, and this number keeps increasing. Americans generate 10.5 million tons of plastic waste a year but recycle only 1 to 2% of it. Waste disposal in the United States costs over $100 billion annually.
Recycling not only saves money, but it saves the planet.
